- When should I RSVP by?
- Given the delay in the production of our invitations, please disregard the original RSVP deadline of “March 1st.” We have adjusted our timeline to give our guests until April 1st. We hope that you all can make it!
- I have a food allergy/restriction. Who do I tell?
- We have a multi-course meal in place for our guests with 1 set protein. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate different proteins for each guest. That being said, if you have a food allergy or food restriction that we should be made aware of, please reach out to Tony or I, so that we can speak with caterers to find the best solution.
- I don’t drink alcohol. Will there be non-alcoholic options for adults?
- YES! Every cocktail we have on the menu can be made as a “mocktail.” Just inform them upon ordering so that they are aware. We will have juice, soda, aguas frescas, and water available for guests as well.
- What does Black Tie Optional mean?
- For men, a BLACK tuxedo or BLACK suit are both acceptable options! We ask that you avoid any other color suits or tuxedos.
- For women, please dress in a formal, floor length gown, color is up to you ! Additionally, we ask that guests avoid any dress that appears too white/ivory in color. If you’re nervous that it might be too light, then it probably is. Go with the other option!
- Can I bring a plus one?
- If we have not already included a plus one on your RSVP card, unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate another guest. We are at max capacity at our venue and currently have a wait list of other friends and family that we would like to be able to include on our special day if possible!
- If the instance that someone in your party cannot attend, an alternate guest will need to be discussed with us in advance (Please realize that this does not guarantee them a spot). There will be a seating chart in place therefore we will need all attending guests names ahead of time. Uninvited/Unaccounted for guests will be asked to leave.
- Where do we stay?
- We have provided information for several hotels which we have discounted rates for within Ensenada on the travel tab. Please refer to that tab for more information. An Airbnb is also a convenient/inexpensive option for families ! We recommend staying in Ensenada, El Sauzal or Valle de Guadalupe for easiest travel.
- How do I get to and from Mexico?
- Check out our “Travel” tab! We’ve included a full breakdown for flying/driving/walking across with a bunch of helpful tips and tricks. Make sure to have you Passport Book/Card and California ID ready!
- Will I need to convert money?
- Both Pesos(Mexican currency) and dollars are accepted as legal tender in Ensenada. The conversion rate between pesos and dollars fluctuates almost daily. Most US banks will do the conversion for you before you leave the country; therefore, you will not need to convert in Mexico. I would consider bringing enough for tips (hotel, taxi, restaurants), souvenirs, restaurants, and tolls (serves as their freeway). The freeway is THE FASTEST way to Ensenada, don’t skip the freeway just to avoid tolls, it’s not worth it. Round trip, toll fees comes out to about $15-20USD. They accept both dollars and pesos at each toll booth (3 total).
- What if I don’t speak Spanish? Will I be able to communicate with people when I’m there?
- Ensenada & Valle de Guadalupe thrive on tourism. This makes it a lot easier to find people who speak or understand english enough to be able communicate at the most basic level. A lot of restaurants will even offer an english version of their menus, specifically in their city center. For my english-only speakers, a tip regarding restrooms: “Damas” and “Mujeres” mark the women’s restrooms. “Hombres” and “Caballeros” mark the men’s restrooms.
- Will my phone work? Will GPS work?
- Make sure to check with your phone provider ahead of time. Most carriers offer an international plan but if not, most (if not all), restaurants, hotels, and airbnbs in the area offer some form of wifi.
- Google Maps and Apple Maps should both work. For iphone users, I’d download Google maps ahead of time just in case Apple Maps is having issues. We’ve also included an embedded map under our “Venue” tab to help guests better familiarize themselves with the location.
- Will there be transportation to the venue?
- We are currently looking into shuttle services, but nothing has been reserved at this time. However, City Express Plus, one of the hotels we are working with, offers free shuttle services! If you plan on staying there, I would speak with them regarding more details! If a shuttle service is reserved by myself and Tony prior to the wedding, we will update our guests ASAP!
- Is parking available on site?
- Yes! Parking is available; however, you will not be able to keep cars at the venue overnight. If you plan on drinking and do not have a designated driver, I would strongly advise against driving yourself. The road to the venue is one lane on either side, without a barrier in between, and it gets dark on that road at night. Be safe please!
- Will I get robbed?
- Yes, people have asked. Let’s not pretend that the Bay area and Stockton are the safest places in the country. If you wouldn’t wear it at home, don’t bring it to Mexico. Seriously though, don’t let stigmas and preconceived ideas scare you. Ensenada has beautiful waterfront views, world renowned fish tacos and amazing sightseeing! La Bufadora is a great place to visit if you come early or plan to stay for a few days after the wedding! That being said, be smart, be respectful, and most importantly, have fun!
